Who would have thought something like this could happen between teammates. Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was charged by the English Football Association in September for using an ethnic slur against club teammate Son Hung-min. Bentancur was guilty in June during a television interview when he said, “Son and his teammates from South Korea all look the same.” Now official confirmation of the punishment is imminent, with a minimum six-match suspension coming, according to British media.Stop sign for Tottenham player, insulting teammate Son: You look the same!Twenty-seven-year-old Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was charged with a serious breach of Football Association rules in September for making offensive comments during a television interview in Uruguay in June.During the interview, Bentancur was asked if he would provide a Tottenham jersey with Son’s name on the back. “Sonny’s jersey, or his cousins from South Korea? They all look the same,” the midfielder replied.Bentancur apologised to Son shortly after the broadcast and did so publicly on Instagram, “Bro, Sonny. Sorry about what happened, it was an inappropriate joke,” Bentancur wrote. “You know I love you and I wouldn’t dare disrespect you, I wouldn’t hurt you or anyone else,” he added.The Football Association will now issue the player with a stoppage, the lower limit of punishment under England’s disciplinary code is six games. But Bentancur’s relationship with Son has reportedly not deteriorated. The Tottenham captain revealed in September that Bentancur almost cried when he apologised to him. “I love Rodrigo very much,” Son let slip.
